The idea is a set of three different types of low seatings. One that acts as a bench, another as a stool and the third one act as a "Mastaba". "Mastaba" is an elevated ground that more than one person can use to sit on. There are three main points that guided our design, inspired from pottery work and Tutankhamun furniture; Proportions, Double curvature top, and pottery curvature line.
Proportions
The seatings design is inspired by proportions of Tutankhamun furniture composition.
Double Curvature top
The seatings top has a similar double curvature as Tutankhamun ebony stool.
Pottery curvature line
The side's cross section is abstracted from the pottery work lines.
Materials
Seatings material choice is a mix between Copper and wood. Both materials have been used extensively throughout Egyptian history in furniture, crafts and Architecture. The copper sheets will act as a surrounding cover to each seating and will be moulded each side separately and then welded together at the corners. The massive dark stained Oak is used as a seat top, its double curvature will be carved using a milling CNC machine.
