As a boost for material experimentation, we created a series of Bioplastic Material Experimentation Workshops. We supplied the participants by ingredients that we researched/tried before, and we also asked them to recommend other materials upon their own search. The results were fruitful.
In the first workshop, the participants learnt how to prepare a basic recipe of bioplastic. Then, as further exploration, they experimented with: Odor, Color, Dryness speed, Brittleness, and Elasticity. Odor was almost covered. Colour has been tackled and is still an ongoing experimentation. Dryness speed, Brittleness, and Elasticity have been partly covered yet still are ongoing experimentation.
In the second workshop the new groups built on the previous workshop's experiments and almost covered Dryness speed, Brittleness, and Elasticity.
Rosewater
Rose water significantly diminished the bad odour of bioplastic; can be mixed with water. It also causes softness of the sample.
Food Color
Food coloring is used for bioplastic coloring.
Gelatin
Gelatin samples can be reformed by heating. It causes hardness and stickiness
Cornstarch
Cornstarch increases hardness but still maintains elasticity
Lemon and Gelatin
They increase elasticity and softness.
Baking Powder
Very hard and brittle
Lemon
It increases elasticity
You will find below an example of sample documentation during the workshops.
