WATER HARVESTING PROJECT

Self-Sufficient Buildings
Graduate work
Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalunya
MARCH 2011 - 2012

Individual/Group work

The idea of the project has been inspired by Termites mounds in attempt to design a water harvesting building facing the future problem of water scarcity.

An experiment of abstracting the idea of termites mounds creating different volumes and forms. Humidity and temperature were then measured at different points.

In this project there are three attempts to design a water harvesting project, in the first two were individual attempts. The unit is formed of an enlargement of a bone tissue like structure, to increase the surface area to catch maximum amount of humidity. In the third attempt, was a group work. A building that harvests water and filter the gray water.
